Concept Maps

June 2 - June 9

Well another week is done. This week we had to make a concept map about a chose topic. I figured that I might as well do my concept map on the Revolutionary War since I spent so much time creating the Prezi and lesson plan. The concept map was a little easy to do and was also a little bit of fun. I am not sure however if I would use something like this in my classroom but I might have my students do it because it is an easy way for students to display important information about a topic is a quick and easy way. I think that creating a concept map this way is going to be more creative then having to do one on a poster board. Below I have included a link to an article from Stanford about using concept maps in the classroom. I hope you guys enjoy it!

  1. Hey Donna! I agree about not being sure how to use the concept map in class. Especially with my pre-schoolers! I did the topic of Lead Poisoning just because it is actually an issue that we see a lot in Southwest Detroit! I am not sure how I would use it in my Head Start class but I think it is something I wouldn't mind using in my personal stuff like braining storming for papers, or trying to create a lesson plan. I think it is great for English teachers and encouraging students to create essays! I wish I could have seen your concept map! Mine was simple, but I felt like I broke down a difficult topic :)

  2. I agree with you. I wish we could have shared our concept maps with the rest of the class like we did with our Prezis and YouTube videos because I think that we could have learned from each other maps. I think I am going to post it on my blog just so my follow classmates can see my concept map. Thank you for the comment Christina!
